Welland Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 Upgrades

Location: Welland, Ontario

ROMAG completed the Welland Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 Upgrades.

The project includes Construction of a new Reservoir and UV/High Lift Pump Station building; new 27.6 kvsubstation; new standby power generator andwater distribution mains.

Associated works include Plant 2 building demolition and restoration; Plant 1 upgrade (backwash; high liftand low lift pumping); Administration building refurbishment; New Plant 1 transfer pumps; New Plant 1 Chlorination System; Various demolitions/removals and restoration works. Welland WTP will remain operational during construction, therefore work involves significant co-ordination with the Operations Personnel and Engineer.

New Equipment to be provided includes: 

  • 2 X 250 L/s Vertical Turbine High Lift Pumps (low capacity)
  • 2 X 380 L/s Vertical Turbine High Lift Pumps (high capacity)
  • 2 X 390 L/s Vertical Turbine Transfer Pumps
  • 2 X 65 ML/d UV Reactors (duty / standby)
  • 2 X 2500 KVA (27.6 KV) outdoor transformers
  • One 2.5 MVA / 600 V / 3 Phase diesel generator
  • ± 235 l.m. CPP yard piping
